Problem Solver: Glare from our patio doors

Dear Web-Blinds,

We love our open plan kitchen-diner, but there’s just one problem. When the sun is low in the sky, we can’t see when we’re eating our dinner! Even on Christmas Day, we were blinded while we tucked into our turkey. What should we put at our patio doors to counteract the problem while not completely obliterating the view of our garden?

Blinded by the light,

Dear Harriet,

Patio doors are lovely and let loads of light in, but they can be troublesome when it comes to keeping the glare off screens or out of your eyes. Luckily, there are also loads of solutions available.

Vertical blinds are fabulously practical for a door, and as they’re available in a multitude of colours, there is something to suit every décor scheme. Sheer options are a modern alternative to net curtains, giving you privacy without blocking out all the light.

Sheer Roller blinds is also a great choice. There’s a massive range of designs available from florals to stripes, that won’t block all the light out and look amazing in their own right.

Our final suggestion would be a Perfect Fit Pleated blind. Perfect Fit blinds clip into the uPVC window frame and become an integral part of the window, while the Pleated fabric will filter the light in beautifully.

Hope we can be a guiding light,

Harriet rolls down a new look

We’re always pleased to lend a helping hand, so we were delighted to hear that Harriet had found the perfect blind for her patio doors.

“My partner Craig and I liked the idea of a fun and fresh pattern to finish off the room, and were spoilt for choice with Web-Blinds Roller blind collection. Following the advice we received from Web-Blinds, we decided on a fabric that would still let the light in when it was pulled down. We chose a zesty design called ‘Budding Blossom Grass’.

“We’re so pleased with it, and it really complements our shaker style kitchen. The best bit though is not having to squint when we’re eating! Even our cat Freya approves – and doesn’t she look lovely silhouetted against our new blind?”
