Jane was looking for something chic to put at the living room window of her ground floor flat. When she came across Web-Blinds, her search stopped. Find out how she brought the beauty of wooden blinds to her window.
Getting the privacy Jane craves for her ground floor flat
“I live in a ground floor flat which I absolutely love,” explains Jane, “but privacy can be a problem. The footpath is within touching distance of my window, so I get my fair share of dog-walkers peering in!
“I’m lucky enough to have a big window that lets in loads of light, so I didn’t want to cover it up with curtains, or old-fashioned nets. I had a look at all the options but decided something with slats would be my best bet.
“Previously, I had a metal Venetian blind, but wanted something that would pick up on the wood elsewhere in the room. As I work in the healthcare industry, the often unsociable hours leave me with little time to shop. That meant I had to be able to choose a blind quickly and easily.
“The name that kept coming up was Web-Blinds”
“I searched online, and the name that kept coming up was Web-Blinds. I said I wanted it to be quick and easy, and that’s exactly what it was.
“I put in my measurements, which I took by following the how-to videos, and picked out coordinating tape for the white Wooden Venetian blind I chose. The tape creates a really luxurious look and adds interest to such a large window. Keeping it white fitted in with the rest of my room.
“Fitting was easy too. My son helped me do it one morning, and it was up in no time. There was minimal mess too, which is great for someone as house proud as me!
Mixing up the look with flowers
“I love to mix up my windowsill with fresh seasonal flowers, and my new white blind is a lovely backdrop. I can’t believe how vibrant my red tulips look against them! My ‘love’ ornament looks great too, and really stands out!”
Fact File – Meet Jane
My home: I live in a modern two-bedroom flat in Nottingham. It’s spacious and I love having friends and family over for food and drink, so my home always has to look great.
My room then: My modern living room is attached to my dining room at the front of my home, so it’s always been crucial I had a window dressing.
And now: When I decided to go for a change, I was looking for something really modern and stylish. I opted for a pristine white Wooden Venetian blind and I really feel like it draws my room together.
Proudest project: I really like mixing up my décor schemes, so I tend to constantly be preening a room. Rather than a finished product, my flat is always evolving – and that makes me very proud!
